NYC club flyers 1996-the present

I got this totally cool email today about some guy who has lovingly scanned and posted about 5 pages worth of NYC club flyers (a few from Chicago & Detroit as well). I used to collect flyers too and I wish I'd kept mine. So thank god for FOLKS LIKE THIS who keep these kinds of memories alive for us. Flyer collections are a snapshot of how flyer design and street promotions/marketing for nightlife have developed over the years. Some of the earliest flyers were the simplest. They showed ingenuity and creativity and often had some tongue-in-cheek humor you had to be at least half-way smart to get. There's still a few people making cool flyers, but a lot are just bad graphics and an overuse of drop shadow. Anyway, check out the link above for a stroll down memory lane, circa late '90s New York.
